Hip labral tear

A tear in the rim of cartilage around the hip socket

What is it?

The labrum is a ring of cartilage that helps seal and stabilise the hip. Tears can follow injury or develop alongside impingement or dysplasia.

Common signs

  • Catching, clicking or locking in the hip
  • Deep groin pain
  • Pain with pivoting movements
